FUNDING AND INVESTING FOR FILM MAKERS
SCENE 1
SEG: Hello
there! Ever wanted to create a film but never had the budget to be able to?
BENJI: Well stress no more, here’s some hints and
tips on funding and investing for film makers.
SEG: And
remember, it’s not about how much you
get it’s about how much you want. Presented by myself, Benji and Saul!
BENJI: Today we’re
going to talk about grants, one way of funding! Film4 is Channel 4’s film
production arm that invests £15 million annually in developing and financing
films for theatrical release in cinemas, working collaboratively with
filmmakers and usually in partnership with other funders.
SEG: This is magical, like
pulling a rabbit out of a hat. A wise man once said pull a rabbit out of a hat
and your set for life.
(PAUSE)
SEG: Creative England
offers a number of funds for development and production funding. All strands
have flexibility with respect to international projects. Creative England is
particularly interested in projects from regionally-based filmmakers or
projects which have a strong regional voice. Here’s my voice… (sweet tune from
seg)
BENJI: The Yorkshire
Content Fund is a public-private investment fund for the TV, film, video games
and digital sectors in Yorkshire and Humber, open to producers either based in
Yorkshire or wishing to film or establish a base in the region.
SEG:
Europa
cinemas (and no I’m not talking about Europa league), is a network of cinemas
that aim to boost the programming of European films with a special emphasis on
non-national European titles.
BENJI:
The Europa
cinemas network is currently supported through this scheme, bringing together
over 900 cinemas in 31 countries.
BENJI: What time is it?
SEG: It’s
reward time, Benji.
BENJI: Oh yes, it
is.
SEG: Some
rewards for investing and funding include…
BENJI: Film
credits
SEG: And
Presents!
BENJI and SEG: Thank
you for listening, we hope you have learnt a lot.
Great! Well done.
